Most sports accounts on TikTok live by the fixture list. A goal, a red card, a transfer rumour, and then nothing to post until the weekend. A **daily quiz carousel** fills the empty days with a post people can answer, and on TikTok an answer is a comment. This guide covers what the public data says about the format, why a question works, and how to publish one every weekday without opening a design tool.

## What a TikTok carousel is

TikTok launched Photo Mode in October 2022: a post made of still images that viewers swipe through at their own pace, with music on top. The same announcement raised descriptions to 2,200 characters, so there is room to say what the quiz is about.1 People call it a carousel, a slideshow or a photo post. It is the same format.

## Do carousels beat video? It depends who counted

Three public studies looked at the question and they do not agree.

- **Fanpage Karma** analysed nearly 700,000 posts published from January to May 2025. TikTok carousels had an engagement rate more than 81% higher than videos and 3% more reach. Shares were about a third lower.2
- **Buffer**, in a report covering more than 52 million posts on ten platforms, measured a median engagement rate of 3.39% for TikTok videos against 1.92% for images.3
- **Metricool**, in data published by Statista (92,000 accounts, 2.31 million posts), has video ahead of image and carousel posts on every metric.4

So when someone promises that slideshows get five times the reach, they are quoting the study that suits them. Our reading is more modest. A carousel will not replace your match clips. It is a second format, quick to make, for the days when you have no footage. And it asks the viewer for something a clip rarely asks: stop, think, type.

## Why a question earns comments

TikTok says its recommendations draw on interactions such as the videos you like or share and the comments you post. It also says that neither follower count nor previous hits are direct factors, which is good news for a small account.5

Questions are what get people commenting, and that finding is older than TikTok. A 2012 study of 355 brand posts, published in the Journal of Interactive Marketing, found that posts asking a question drew significantly more comments. Being informative or entertaining made no difference to the comment count.6 It was measured on another social network, so take it as a principle, not a forecast.

Sport makes the job easier. Every fan believes they know the history better than the next one, and a multiple-choice question lets them prove it with one letter. Typing "B" takes a second. Arguing with the person who typed "C" takes longer, and that is the point.

## Why every day matters

Buffer followed more than 100,000 of its users for 26 weeks across ten platforms, TikTok included. Those who posted in at least 20 of those weeks got about five times the engagement per post of those that posted in four weeks or fewer.7

A second Buffer analysis, this time of 11.4 million TikTok posts, looked at frequency. Accounts posting two to five times a week got 17% more views per post than accounts posting once. The typical post barely moved: the median went from 489 views to 506. The good posts nearly doubled, with the top 10% starting at 6,983 views instead of 3,722.8 Posting more does not lift every post. It gives you more chances at a good one.

For scale, the 2026 Social Media Industry Benchmark Report puts the median brand at 1.98 TikTok videos a week.9 A quiz every weekday is five posts before you have filmed anything. And the audience is already there: in Ipsos research commissioned by TikTok, 85% of fans use TikTok as a second screen during live events. TikTok counts more than 60 million sports creators, so you also need something that carries your name.10

## How the WeSpeakSports app builds the carousel

Every weekday WeSpeakSports publishes a free sports quiz of ten questions. In the iOS app, the daily quiz card has a button, **Make a TikTok carousel**, and the same button shows up on the results screen once you have played.

1. **Six questions, picked for you.** The app takes six of the day's ten questions at random and keeps them in quiz order. If you do not like the pick, tap Shuffle.
2. **No answers on the slides.** Each slide carries one question, four options and a yellow note: "Comment your answer".
3. **Your handle on the last slide.** The seventh slide reads "Quiz posted by" followed by your TikTok handle, so people know whose quiz it is. The app asks for the handle once.
4. **Post.** "Share to TikTok" hands the seven images to TikTok, where you add a sound and a caption. "Save to Photos" and the share sheet are there if you would rather post later.

The slides are 1080 by 1920 pixels, the full vertical frame. They come in eight languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch and Arabic. The carousel is ready when the day's quiz opens, and it is free for every user.

## Your own quiz, on any topic

The daily quiz is the same for everyone. Registered altcasters, the fans who commentate matches live on WeSpeakSports, can create their own carousel on any topic: their club's record signings, the history of a derby, last night's match. That is where an account stops looking like the others, because nobody else can post your questions.

## A routine that works

- **Same slot, every weekday.** A quiz is a habit. People come back for it if they know when it lands.
- **Choose your opener.** The first slide decides whether anyone swipes. Shuffle until it is a question your followers will argue about.
- **Name the topic in the caption.** TikTok lists captions, sounds and hashtags among the information its recommendations use.5 "Six questions on Magic Johnson" beats "Quiz time".
- **Keep the answers out of the caption.** The last slide sends people to the app for them, and the argument in the comments lasts longer when nobody has settled it.
- **Reply to the guesses.** Every reply is one more comment under your post, and it shows the next visitor that somebody is home.
- **Keep your videos.** Carousels on weekdays, clips and live commentary on match days. The studies above are a reason to run both, not to pick one.
- **Count comments over a month.** The benchmarks disagree with each other, so your own account is the only one that matters. Compare comments per post before and after four weeks of quizzes.

The quiz is free to play and free to post. Get the app from the [WeSpeakSports apps page](https://wespeaksports.com/apps), open today's quiz and tap Make a TikTok carousel.
